  • American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) – The ASIS is an organization for security professionals that works to increase effectiveness and productivity through education and training programs. They publish an industry magazine called Security Management.
  • California Alarm Association (CAA) – An organization that works to improve and grow standards of professionalism in electronic security, the CAA runs a number of programs that benefit the security industry as a whole.
  • National Association of Security Companies (NASCO) – NASCO is an association of contract security guard companies. They advocate on behalf of private security firms and promote higher standards of performance and regulation among security guards.
  • Bureau of Security & Investigative Services (BSIS) – Part of the Department of Consumer Affairs, the Bureau of Security & Investigative Services is the regulatory body in the state of California that oversees the private security and security guard industries.
  • Security Guard Occupational Information – Find out employment information for security professionals, including average earnings, specific industry statistics and how much security guards earn in different parts of the country.
